COME AND SEE
Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church is a Christian community and a part of the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona, the Episcopal Church, and the worldwide Anglican Communion. Following Christ’s example, we invite you to “come and see” our faith community - where all are welcome, regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or any of the other “labels” our modern world creates. We are a sacramental and worship-oriented church promoting thoughtful discernment about what God is calling us to do as followers of Christ. We hope you will join us in Growing as God’s Family.

Family & Children | Youth Ministries
Children and youth play a vital role in our congregation and can be found in every corner of our campus and offerings. Children are not only the future of the church; they are the church. Youth, Family and Children’s Ministry at Saint Matthew's is for everyone. We aim to support families, and offer a place where friendships and relationships can be built around a growing relationship with Christ.
Nursery Care
Our nursery, room C-2, is available during our 9:00 and 11:00 AM services for all children, four years old and younger - infants are welcome.
Changing tables are available in the accessible stall of the men’s and women’s restroom in our sanctuary and parish hall, and in our nursery.
Upcoming events
October, November & December Giving Opportunities
This giving season, Saint Matthew’s invites you to share the joy of the holidays with those in our community. Our Outreach Committee has three special opportunities to give: in October, we’ll collect Thanksgiving meal items for Matthew’s Crossing to provide holiday dinners for families in need; in November, we’ll gather gift cards for Helen’s Hope Chest so teens in foster care feel remembered and celebrated at Christmas; and on the first two Sundays of Advent, we’ll collect new, unwrapped toys to bring laughter, love, and hope to children facing life-threatening medical challenges. Monetary donations are always welcome to support these efforts, and physical items can be brought to our Narthex while each drive is active. Let’s come together to brighten the season for those who need it most.
Wednesday, October 8, 2:00–3:30 PM
You’re invited to a special three-part study and worship series engaging with Dr. Wilda Gafney’s A Women’s Lectionary for the Whole Church, Year C. Each gathering will offer a unique opportunity to explore scripture, reflect together, and share in worship. You are welcome to attend one, two, or all three sessions—no registration is required.
To accommodate a variety of schedules, we’re offering the following times to gather:
Saturday, September 20, 10:00–11:30 AM
Wednesday, October 1, 10:00–11:30 AM
Wednesday, October 8, 2:00–3:30 PM
All sessions will take place in the Parish Hall, with light refreshments available before we begin. In preparation for our first gathering, you are encouraged (though not required) to watch the 45-minute documentary Jesus’ Female Disciples: Do Christians Have to Rethink Their Faith? All study and worship materials will be provided—no book purchase is necessary.
We look forward to learning, reflecting, and worshiping alongside you.

Those who would like to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church when Bishop Reddall visits on Sunday, March 15, 2026, must complete all six sessions or arrange a makeup session with Rev. Monica.
Participants will need a copy of Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs and Practices. If you would like the church to order one for you, please let us know by Monday, September 15. The suggested donation is $15–20, and scholarships are available.
We hope you’ll consider joining this journey of faith, learning, and discovery!

The Latest From Creation Care
Tip for the Holidays: Feeling the holiday rush creeping in? Take the stress down a notch and go green! Join us for the Green Gift Guide Event on Sunday, November 2 at 10:00 AM in the Courtyard, or simply browse the guide to spark ideas. You’ll discover creative, eco-friendly gift options that celebrate both your loved ones and the planet. Nothing to buy that day—just inspiration to help you plan ahead with purpose.
As we move into fall, let’s continue caring for God’s creation together! Please make use of the recycling bins on campus or consider bringing items home to recycle, helping to ease the burden on the church. At coffee hour, we encourage everyone to use reusable dishes when possible—or better yet, bring your own favorite mug! Don’t forget to stay hydrated and eco-friendly by refilling your bottles at the water filling station in the Parish Hall. And if you use plastic grocery bags, please return them to your local store for recycling if you can’t reuse them. Every small step makes a big difference!
Baby, It’s Hot Outside! So why not turn down the heat—on your water heater? Most are set at a steamy 140°F by default, but lowering the temperature to 120°F can save energy and money. It’s a simple change with a big impact. Easy peasy!
