Memorial Garden
Saint Matthew's Memorial Garden (scroll down for more photos)

Designed to be a natural and tranquil place for rest and meditation, the walled Memorial Garden is located on the north side of the church and is planted with native, ornamental trees, flowers, and shrubs. Entry is through wrought iron gates at either side of the garden. Ashes are buried in the areas covered by green grass, and memorial plaques commemorating departed loved ones are placed on the church wall at the garden's edge.

For Christians who live life in the Church from baptism to burial, it makes sense that the Church might serve as a final resting place when their mortal life on earth is over. In keeping with the ancient tradition of having a burial ground next to the parish church, Saint Matthew’s established a walled Memorial Garden for the interment of ashes more than a decade ago. Many Saint Matthew’s parishioners have their loved ones interred in the garden and/or commemorated by a memorial plaque.

Have you taken the time to walk through the Memorial Garden at Saint Matthew’s? Beyond being a place for burial and to remember loved ones, the Memorial Garden is alive and dynamic with plantings, a water feature, a ramada, and benches. It’s a place for the living to sit, enjoy the beauty, meditate, and pray. It’s a place of welcome -- one of remembrance, conversation, praise, and joy.

Costs:
The cost for interment of ashes and a memorial plaque is $600.00.
A memorial plaque only, without interment is $300.00.

Gifts:
Gifts to the Memorial Garden fund are encouraged to preserve this wonderful feature of the Saint Matthew’s in perpetuity for all to enjoy. Checks may be made payable to:
